TREAT WOMEN WITH LOVE, DIGNITY, RESPECT AND GENEROUSITY

Sunday Service – March 29, 2026
Ministering: Rev. (Dr.) Umoren S. Akpan

Topic: Treat Women with Love, Dignity, Respect, and Generosity If You Want Generational Blessings
Text: Ephesians 5:1 – 33

Introduction:

Women play indispensable roles in our lives and in society at large. Their impact cannot be overemphasized. It is therefore fitting that the month of March is set aside globally to celebrate women through the International Women’s Day.
Women are home builders and great managers, ensuring that everything functions seamlessly. They manage resources effectively and contribute significantly, both emotionally and financially to the growth and stability of the home.

In today’s world, women are highly relevant and influential across various professions, including medicine, business, and politics. They are no longer confined to domestic responsibilities alone. Women are central to family life; they bring light, warmth, and joy into the home.

God emphasizes the importance of women by instructing men to treat them with love, dignity, and respect.
1 Peter 3:7 (a) – “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge…”
As a man, disrespect towards your wife can hinder your prayers and blessings.
The primary responsibility God gave to a man is to love and care for his wife.
Ephesians 5:25–26 – “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church…”
Just as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for her, so must a man love his wife wholeheartedly.

Additionally, young boys should be taught early how to treat their sisters and every girl child with respect.

Ways to Keep Love Alive in Marriage.

1. Keep the Romance Alive:
Marriage begins to decline when romance fades. Therefore, men must intentionally sustain affection and emotional connection.

2. Spend Quality Time and Show Appreciation:
Spend meaningful time with your wife, give gifts unconditionally, and celebrate her consistently.
Isaac inherited the blessings of Abraham because he loved his wife, Rebekah, just as Abraham loved Sarah.

A man who loves his wife loves himself, while one who mistreats his wife harms his own flesh.
A happy wife becomes a strong support system, she builds with her husband, believes in his vision, and honors him. Conversely, a man who disregards his wife often struggles both spiritually and financially.

Proverbs 31:25–26 “Strength and honour are her clothing…”
It is risky to marry a woman who does not fear God. A God-fearing woman lives according to His will and brings honor to her home. Such a woman will be praised by her husband.

Key Lessons from the Proverbs 31 Woman (The Virtuous Woman)

Proverbs 31:25 – “Strength and honour are her clothing…”

2. She is patient and accommodating:
Proverbs 31:28 – “Her children arise up, and call her blessed…”

Guidelines for Loving and Caring for Women

1. Be a Perfect Gentleman:
Protect women and never take advantage of them.
1 Timothy 5:2 – “The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters…”

2. Connect Emotionally:
Colossians 3:19 – “Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.”

3. Love Sacrificially:
Be willing to make sacrifices for your wife.

4. Seek Covenant, Not Contract Relationship:
Build relationships based on commitment, not convenience.

Conclusion:

This message reminds us that honoring women through love, dignity, respect, and generosity is not only a moral responsibility but also a pathway to generational blessings.

This teaching was delivered in commemoration of International Women’s Day – March 2026, celebrating the value, strength, and divine purpose of women in our homes, churches, and society.
