GRACE TO SURRENDER ALL TO JESUS: THE KEY TO A VICTORIOUS LIFE BY REV. (Dr) UMOREN AKPAN

*Sunday Service Message:*

*Date: April 12, 2026*

*Speaker: Rev (Dr) Umoren S. Akpan*

*Topic: Grace to Surrender All to Jesus: The Key to a Victorious Life*

*Text: Proverbs 3:1–21*

*Introduction:*

As the return of Jesus Christ draws nearer, the call for total surrender becomes increasingly urgent for every believer. Our ultimate goal as Christians is to reign with Him in eternal glory. To live outside His will is to undermine that very purpose.*1 Peter 5:7 (KJV): “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

”*Without Christ, true fulfillment remains unattainable. We are therefore encouraged to commit every aspect of our lives, our worries, plans, and desires into His faithful hands. He alone is able to sustain us and carry us through life’s storms.

*Walking in the Spirit and Fulfilling Destiny*Galatians 5:17 (KJV): “For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh…

”*Living in alignment with God’s will enables us to fulfill destiny and manifest His glory:*God desires that the flesh be subdued so that His perfect will may prevail in our lives. When we choose to gratify the flesh, we hinder the full expression of His purpose.*2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV): “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature…

”*No one attains righteousness by personal effort alone. Our transformation comes through Christ. What we yield to ultimately governs us, whether the flesh or the Spirit. A surrendered life allows the Holy Spirit to take full control.

*Identity and Daily Living*A critical question every believer must answer is this: *What identity do you carry in different environments?* Are you consistent in your Christian walk, or does your identity shift depending on circumstances?*Romans 12:1 (KJV): “I beseech you therefore, brethren… that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice…

”*Christian living demands intentionality. There are places we should not go and actions we should not indulge in. Our lives must reflect a conscious choice of God over emotions, desires, and societal pressures.*The Call to Total Surrender:*1 Peter 2:9 (KJV): “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood…”Matthew 16:24 (KJV): “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself…

”Surrendering to Jesus requires boldness, the courage to be different. It is a daily decision to deny self and follow Him wholeheartedly.

Failure to align with God’s will often results in unnecessary struggles. But surrender brings divine alignment and peace.*Mark 10:28 (KJV): “Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.”*Acts 3:19 (KJV): “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out…

”When we surrender all, God takes responsibility for our lives. He restores, provides, and brings comfort even in the most difficult seasons. *Returning to God and Standing Strong:*Like Job, we are called to trust God in all circumstances, allowing His will to prevail above our own.*Isaiah 59:1 (KJV): “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save…

”*God is always ready to receive those who return to Him in sincerity. His mercy is abundant, and His grace is sufficient to restore.*Ephesians 6:10 (KJV): “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”*2 Corinthians 10:4 (KJV): “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal…”*The Christian journey is not without battles, but God has equipped us with spiritual strength and divine weapons to overcome.

*Conclusion:*

Total surrender to Jesus is not a sign of weakness. It is the gateway to true strength, victory, and fulfillment. When we lay down our will, desires, and ambitions before Him, we gain access to His divine direction, provision, and peace.A life fully yielded to Christ is a life secured in purpose and sustained by grace. In surrender, we find victory. In obedience, we discover purpose. And in Christ, we inherit eternal glory.
