RIGHTEOUSNESS EXALTS A NATION PT1.
Proverbs 14:34, Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
Our opening scripture establishes the fact that Righteousness exalts a nation and sin brings shame, disgrace, dishonor, reproach and ultimately untimely death. Sin robs men and nations of their glorious destiny.
What therefore is righteousness? It is right standing with God. In 1 Corinthians 15:34. ‘Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
In 1 Timothy 6:11-12.. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession .
Becoming the righteousness of God in Christ is a great responsibility because people should see God’s righteousness in you. This does not give you the liberty to sin; rather, it gives you the responsibility to reflect Christ in a perverse world.
As the righteousness of God in Christ, you cannot enjoy sin any longer. You cannot lie conveniently or steal without remorse. People must see a change in your actions and attitude if you truly carry God’s righteousness.
In Mathew 3:8 ‘Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance” John the Baptist made the statement in the Scripture above to the Pharisees and Sadducees who had come to his baptism. He told them that it wasn’t enough to claim to be righteous when their actions contradicted their claims. This applies to you too; your actions should not comtradict God’s word. Righteousness means right living; therefore, your lifestyle must reflect God’s standard pattern for life. It must reveal God’s truth, peace, and love to the world. God has a standard which is summarised with this bold message: “Let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity”(2 Timothy 2:19).
Beloved, God wants you to be filled with all the fruits of righteousness.which are by Jesus Christ to the praise and glory of His name. Don’t just claim to be the righteousness of God in Christ; live it.

- Father thank You, for making me the righteousness of God.
- Father thank You for forgiven my sins and iniquity.
- Lord have mercy upon me and my household.
- Father, I enjoy your mercy all through this month and beyond in Jesus name.
- I receive grace to live above unrighteousness in Jesus name.
