COMMANDING YOUR DAY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

COMMANDING YOUR DAY.

Daily devotional.

Monday, 1st June , 2026.

FORGIVENESS IS POWERFUL PT2.

In Matthew 6:12 And forgive our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, commanded us on the need for forgiveness because, offences will always come so long as we are alive. Offences: are spiritual arrows fired by the devil to plant in us, seeds of unforgivness in order to steal, to kill and to destroy.

Because unforgivness is a spiritual weapon that can keep you in perpetual bondage. And it doesn’t matter if you were right or innocent. Once you cannot forgive, heaven will be shut against you, and consequently your prayers also, will not be answered. But on the contrary, forgiveness is a powerful spiritual weapon that engenders freedom and speedy answers to all our prayers.

The journey of life is a complex one, filled with highs and lows, victories and challenges. Along this path, it is inevitable that we will encounter offenses. The Bible makes this reality abundantly clear: in Matthew 18:7“…for as long as you are in this world, offenses must come.”  To live in this world is to be exposed to the imperfections and failings of humanity. The only person who will never be offended is the one who is no longer among the living. The universal truth, “to err is human,” reminds us that human beings are permanently prone to making mistakes and causing offense.

This reality, however, is not an excuse to harbor hurt and resentment. An offense, when not handled with grace, becomes a satanic trap designed for destruction and damnation. It is a spiritual poison that, when left to fester, can corrupt your spirit, hinder your connection with God, and ultimately prevent you from fulfilling your destiny. This is why it is absolutely crucial to deal with the issue of unforgiveness.

To understand the power of forgiveness, we must first recognize the devastating consequences of holding on to an offense. Unforgiveness is not just an emotion; it is a spiritual state with very real and very destructive effects.

  1. Unforgiven Iniquity Hinders Your Own Forgiveness: The most direct and severe consequence of unforgiveness is spelled out by Jesus Himself in Mark 11:26 “But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.”  This is a spiritual law. It is a mirror principle: whatever measure you use to hold the sins of others against them, God will use that same measure to hold your own sins against you. Your relationship with God is directly tied to your willingness to forgive those who have wronged you.
  2. Hindered Access to God in Prayer: In Mark 11:25 says, “And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”  Unforgiveness creates a spiritual block that hinders your access to God in prayer. You can fast and pray for weeks but if your heart is filled with unforgivness, your prayers will not be able to ascend to the throne of grace. Unforgiveness is a spiritual wall block your prayers from getting to heaven.
  3. Hindered Access to Grace:  In Hebrews 12:14-15 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
    A lack of forgiveness is the root of bitterness, and bitterness blocks grace. Grace is the divine power that makes the Christian journey effortless. Where grace is removed, struggle is established. A life of unforgiveness is a life of constant, grinding struggle, as you have cut yourself off from the very power that makes the race of life easy.

So beloved, to err is human and to forgive is divine. If you want to fulfill your destiny and live a life of continuous victory, power and dominion you must let go of all offences no matter how terrible the offense was.
