POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS PT2.
đź“– Philippians 2:8-9,11 ‘And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
In the Biblical context, a name represents a person’s authority, character, and legal standing. So when a believer declare “in the name of Jesus” it means that the believer is acting with Jesus delegated authority and power and in line with who He is. All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Jesus.
In Matthew 28:18 “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me”.
In Philippians 2:9-11′ After the resurrection, God “bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
The authority and power flows from His position as risen Lord and Saviour. Believers therefore act in that authority that flows from their relationship and surrender to the Lordship of Jesus.
Jesus passes on that authority to His followers. In John 14:13-14 “Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do… If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it”. This isn’t a formula. It means that when you pray with His authority and in alignment with His will He hears us.
In Mark 16:17-18 “In my name they will cast out demons… they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will be made well”.
In Luke 10:19 “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy”.
The name of Jesus is above all names. Whatever has a name is inferior to the name of Jesus. Whether it is the name of Satan, a demon, altars, kingdoms, sickness, or any negative situation, it must submit to the name of Jesus. His name would do what Jesus would have done if He were physically on earth. His name is powerful.
Satan hates the name of Jesus because it reminds Him of how Jesus defeated him and his angels. “Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it” (Colossians 2:15). There is no salvation in any other name. In Romans 10:9 says if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Don’t allow demons, powers, principalities or anything to silence you from speaking in the name of Jesus. Whatever you desire, ask in the name of Jesus and it shall be delivered to you even to the uttermost part of the earth. I therefore declare and decree in the Name of Jesus, the heavens above you shall be opened and release your blessings in Jesus mighty name. Whatever demonic wickedness and their enterprises that have been feasting on your destiny, in the name of Jesus Christ I command them roasted by fire of the Holy Ghost.
