Workers’ Training held on Sunday,, 3rd May, 2026
Speaker: Pastor Godwin Iwud
Topic: Kingdom Service: Your Commitment to God and Your Local Church.
Introduction:
The training served as a timely reminder of the sacred responsibility placed upon every worker in God’s house. It was a moment of reflection, realignment, and renewed dedication as we prepare for the harvest of souls God has entrusted to us.
The anchor scripture was Malachi 3:16–18:
“Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it…”
We were reminded that the essence of this training is to prepare the workforce to effectively receive the 2,000 souls we are expecting, and to mentor and nurture them in their walk with God. As workers, we are called to be true representatives of Christ, both within the church and in our daily lives.
Expectations of a Kingdom Worker
The training outlined key responsibilities and attitudes expected of every worker:
1. Have the Fear of God:
A genuine reverence for God must be the foundation of your service, guiding your actions and decisions at all times.
2. Commitment to Your Department:
Be dedicated and consistent in your assigned unit, understanding that your role contributes to the overall success of the ministry.
3. Faithfulness in Service:
God honors faithfulness. Serve diligently and wholeheartedly, knowing that your labor is not in vain.
4. Support and Leadership:
Support your unit leader, be a role model in your department, and continually be a source of encouragement to others.
5. Renew Your Devotion:
Regularly renew your commitment to God. Your devotion belongs first to God, and then to the department where you serve.
6. Accountability:
Be accountable to God and to your team. Be ready and willing to serve and support whenever needed.
7. Prioritize Your Time with God:
Never take your personal time with God lightly. Scripture reminds us in Exodus 34:14:
“For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.”
8. Continuous Learning:
Understand your department thoroughly, its responsibilities, expectations, and boundaries. As written in 2 Timothy 2:15:
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed…”
9. Follow Structure and Order:
Respect the established structure. Avoid deviations and do not introduce “strange fire,” ensuring that all things are done appropriately and in order.
A Call to Responsibility and Growth:
It was emphasized that a worker who becomes a burden to their team leader inevitably becomes a concern to the entire church. Every worker must therefore strive to contribute positively and function effectively within their team.
The training also highlighted the importance of the Three C’s:
Capacity:
The ability to sustain and grow in service. This comes through continuous learning, spiritual development, and personal discipline.
Character:
Your pattern of behavior and lifestyle. Character defines your integrity and reflects Christ in you.
Competence:
Your ability to effectively carry out assigned responsibilities with excellence and skill.
Filling the Gaps: A Call to Service:
As believers and workers in God’s house, we are encouraged to be proactive, identify areas of need within the church and step in to fill them. Kingdom service requires initiative, sacrifice, and a heart willing to serve beyond convenience.
Conclusion:
The Workers’ Training was a powerful reminder that kingdom service is not casual, it demands commitment, discipline, and a heart fully yielded to God. As we anticipate the influx of souls, may every worker rise to the occasion, embodying the fear of God, faithfulness, and excellence in service.
Let us remain steadfast, continually growing in capacity, character, and competence, as we labor together in unity to advance God’s kingdom.
Shalom!!!
